Recycling at Sisler High School

recycling_students-300x160Students at Sisler High School aren’t afraid of a little yogurt or poutine on their quest for sustainability. And it’s a good thing, because they have their work cut out for them with the amount of recycling at their school. Check out these recycling numbers for Sisler:

  • 1 school
  • 1800+ students
  • 200 recycling bins
  • 50 students on the recycling team
  • 3 times a week the team collect recyclables from the bins

Recently CTV did a feature on their work which you can watch here.

West Kildonan Students Call for Plastic Bag Ban

In 2018, a group of high school students from West Kildonan Collegiate created a petition for Winnipeggers to consider banning single-use plastic bags. The students successfully collected over 5,800 signatures within a few months, leading to discussions amongst city councillors for further action.
