    Ontario company Deltro is installing two warehouse-sized lithium-ion batteries in Toronto. When they get plugged into the Canadian electricity grid in the spring of 2018, they will be Canada’s first utility-scale energy storage project. Industrial battery storage will provide the dependability breakthrough that renewable electricity sources like wind and solar have been waiting for.

    In a Warming California, a Future of More Fire

    Severe wildfire seasons like the one that has devastated California this fall may occur more frequently because of climate change, scientists say. Among other factors, many climate change forecasts suggest that there will be less rain in Southern California in the fall in the future, and more rain in December and January. That means fires could continue later into the fall, greatly extending the fire risk season.
